Christmas is not just about Jesus coming to bring salvation for the future - but it is also about a whole new life right now. I hope you enjoy the testimony below of Ephraim's new life in Christ.
My name is Ephraim*, I am 36 years old and I live in East Africa with my wife and four children. I have been under the devil's bondage for 16 years and have been to many medicine men and witchdoctors. For the last 3 years I have been paralyzed and housebound. The devil possessed me by first frightening me and appearing to me while I try to sleep. The spirits that possessed me always told me to be a Muslim and eventually I became Muslim. I wore the Muslim dresses and Muslim hat. Muslims told me that I would be healed if I became a Muslim, but I still was not healed after my conversion to Islam. I later went to five witchdoctors that were known to practice magic and perform healings. These five witchdoctors took 25 thousand Birr (Ethiopian currency - this is about $1500 in US currency) and six cows from me, but did not heal my sickness. I was near death at this point and was taken to the hospital and where I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis. On my way back from the hospital, I asked to be taken to the Evangelical church in the town. The people in the church removed the wristbands that were put on me by the witchdoctors and prayed for me. When the church people prayed for me, many evil spirits cried out and left my body. I started feeling my body moving freely and I was able to move my arms and legs slowly. Before the prayer I couldn't move my arms and legs at all. My face had been badly deformed and was restored after the prayer - the healing started working within me right away. It has now been 5 months since I was healed and received Jesus Christ as my Savior.
The people that took me to the church told my neighbors what happened when the church people prayed for me. My grandmother, who worked in witchcraft herself, ran to the church seeking deliverance from the spirits that attacked our family and was delivered from the spirits that possessed her as well. She also burned the things she used to worship the spirits and took the cows the she reserved for the spirits and used for herself.
