Our vision and plan is to see 3260 new churches with 163,000 new believers in the period between July 2007 and December 2008.
The key to sustaining the momentum of a Church Planting Movement is the training, transportation, and support of local church planters and church planting trainers. The financial support necessary for some of our more pressing needs to achieve this goal are as follows:
Supporting 50 Teams of local Church Planters $1,750 per church planting team for 7 mo / $87,500
50 teams of two will be sent out to launch the church planting process in new villages. One member of each team will be an experienced church planter and one will be a new member in training. The cost of supporting a team of two is $250 per month for their transportation and living expenses for 7 months.
400 Bicycles for Church Planters $90 per bike / $36,000
One bicycle will be supplied for each member of the church planting team. Each team has to travel at least 10 miles to reach a village and sometimes much greater distances. Bicycles give church planting teams an opportunity to reach much farther than they could on foot.
21 Motorcycles for Regional Coordinators $800 per motorcycles / $16,800
Motorcycles are needed as transportation for Regional Coordinators. Regional Coordinators are the senior leaders who develop the plans and oversee the work in different areas and regions. Their job requires that they be able to cover large amounts of territory in order to monitor the work, coach the church planters and research new areas.
700 Sets of Rain Gear for Church Planters $35 per set / $24,500
For people whose lives revolve around agriculture, the rainy season provides a great opportunity for lay leaders to start new churches without damaging their livelihood. Unfortunately, the rain that frees them from farming also hinders their ability to travel. 700 sets of rain gear ($35 per set) are needed to help a highly committed group of church planters to use this seasonal opportunity to plant new churches.
Scripture Resources $31,250
One of the most vital elements in the church planting process is to provide "heart language" scripture in both written and oral formats. Having scripture in the "heart language" allows for untrained and often illiterate people to discover directly from the scripture what God is calling them to do.
Access Ministry $3,000 per village
Caring for the basic needs of poor and hurting people paves the way for church planters to gain access to communities where they normally would not be accepted. The provision of food, clothing, household necessities, seeds and other essentials is a vital part of the church planting process.
Training Center $225,000
The construction of a training center to house, feed and train up to 200 church planters and trainers at a time. The site will include a dormitory, kitchen, 6 large training rooms, a library and meeting hall. 40 acres of land in West Africa has already been purchased for this purpose.
Supporting 24 National Missionary Families $13,923 per Missionary Family/$334,160
One of the greatest indicators of effective missionary work is when national missionaries take the Gospel to other countries. For a little over $1,000 per month per family, 24 national missionaries can write the next chapter of fulfilling the Great Commission by taking what has been given to them and giving it to others.
