Personal Transformation

Saiwa* was a leader in the female secret society at a very young age and continued for 24 years. When the church planter came to her village, he prayed for a young woman in labor pains. Saiwa had spoken a curse over this woman so that she would die in labor. Because the church planter prayed, for the first time ever, Saiwa's demonic powers were broken. Despite her attempts to deceive the church planter, he did not trust her befriending, but continued to pray for her. And, whenever he saw Saiwa, he spoke of Jesus, until the day came when she wanted to learn more and finally gave her life to Jesus. Saiwa has renounced all her satanic powers and burned all the symbols of that power. When she was baptized, she told the church planter that she wanted a new name, a biblical name. She is now called Deborah.

Pan was a well known Muslim in his community and an admitted arch enemy of Christians. When his son became a Christian, he threw him out of the family. Later the father became very ill. No medical treatment or religious sacrifices helped. He gathered his wives and elder sons to disperse his properties amongst them. Pa's Christian son heard about his illness and went to him with two pastors. They prayed for Pa, in the name of Jesus. In three days he was raised up from the illness and today is healthy and strong. "Christ has taken death away from me". He has given his life to Christ, and is supporting his son's training to become a pastor.

A Muslim who is also a leader in a secret society recognized the threat posed by a team of church planters in his community. He and others plotted to kidnap one of the church planters and take them to a sacred spot where they could allege that the church planter had trespassed and kill him. That would surely frighten the others away. Before he could finalize this plan the Muslim leader's son became deathly ill. Muslim clerics could not help. The leader's wife begged him to let the church planters pray for the boy. Reluctantly he agreed, and his son recovered. The leader eventually repented, told the church planters what his intention was. Today that whole family are Christ-Followers and are active in sharing this testimony publicly.

In one district, church planters were amazed that in a deep spirit of repentance many people confessed crimes at their baptism that could have resulted in their arrests.
